I have a hunter booked on Prince of Wales Island till May 23rd ... he departs on the 24th ... I'll get geared up and travel to Ketchikan on the 25th, that is when the hunter should arrive in Ketchikan. We will travel via boat on the 26th and set up camp ... could possibly be some hunting during travel and that day around camp. Hunting for Brown Bear the 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 ... then Black Bear untill June 5th and schedule travel back to Ketchikan on the 6th .... unless the hunter tags out early, wants to head back to town early and possibly over to POW Island ... There will be some relocation costs in going to POW Island if the hunter chooses to.Your jet travel should be scheduled on May 25th from your home to Seattle to Ketchikan via Alaska Airlines. Most hunters arrive in Ketchikan about 4 pm. Since the airport is on an Island across from Ketchikan it is usually about 5:30 pm before you get checked into a motel. There are several motels to choose from. The rates should be from $125 to $175. I will help you with all your arrangements. You can schedule your return out of Ketchikan on June 7th or 8th. We have hunted this area over the years and are very familiar with it. A B&C or P&Y quality Black Bear in the 6 to 7 foot range is very possible. Brown Bear will be in the 8 foot range but we have taken several at 9+ feet on past hunts. The hunt will be based out of the tent camp returning there every evening. Spot & stalk style hunting. We will hunt from a skiff hunting several bays, beaches and tidal flats. The menu will be freeze dried meals. You must be prepared to hunt in wet conditions. The Misty Fjords is thick coastal rainforest. It will be cold to mild temperatures in the 40's and 50's or even 60's. It can range from heavy rain and windy to sunny and nice. Your cape and skull can be taken as you leave or we can FedEx it at a later date when it has salt dried. I am a vendor and have all necessary licenses and tags on hand or I can help you select the right license, tags and permit online.Non-resident hunting license fees are $85, Mt Goat tag is $300, Black Bear tag is $225, Brown Bear tag is $500, Deer tag is $150, Wolverine tag is $175 and Wolf tag is $30.Many hunters purchase a fishing license and we get in some crabbing, we will catch a cook a few crab but will not have refrigeration for any fish meat during the mainland part of the hunt.
